Hello to All! My wife & I have the Austin Air HealthMate-HM400 in our living room. My Mom also has an HM400 in her living room. My first experience with the HM400 was at my Mom’s House.When my wife and I would visit, my wife would not want to stay for more than a few minutes because of the cigarette smoke! Our clothes would also wreak of smoke when we got back home! This put a damper on my wife’s wanting to go and visit my Mom. The smoke actually makes her physically ill and can trigger a migraine so I completely understand her point of view. My Mom would even air the house ouy a couple of hours before we would stop by but it never helped much. A couple of days after my Mom got her HM400 we stopped over and to put it midly we both were AMAZED! There was an ever so slight hint of smoke but my wife had no problem staying for an hour or so and when we got home the stench on our clothes was more like a tiny wiff! The filter has improved the air quality since then so that dinners during the holidays are much more pleasurable! I have airborn allergies to dog, cat, dust, mold, down, etc. you get the idea. My allergies are not severe but significant enough that I have never been able to breath thru my nose and I always had phlegm in the back of my throat!(Sorry, Gross) I would wake up every morning with my eyes sealed shut(We raise & train dogs). My throat would be swollen and sore and I would just plain feel crappy! Since getting the Austin Air HealthMate-Hm400 I wake up without any of the alergy symptoms and I can breath thru my nose at will! I ran the unit on high for most of the night when we first plugged it in but now it is operating on low most of the time! If I start to notice any allergy symtoms I crank it to high for an hour maybe 2 and the symptoms disappear! The unit is fairly noisey on high but no where near the ear bleed level just slightly annoying. I am fine watching TV with it on medium as it is substantially less sound pressure than high! On low the unit is nice and it sounds, too me, like a breeze and is soothing! I apologize for my verbosity and please forgive my spelling and grammar? The unit comes packaged well! The directions are clear and concise! Build quality and finish A1! It is easy to move! It is Uncomplicated too a fault!The warranty and customer service outstanding and it is made in the USA!Ihave no negatives to express! I unequivocally recommend the Austin Air HealthMate-HM400! Once you own one you won’t know how you lived without it! Best Regards MKG
